We were lucky and got some questions in with a few of the artists performing at The Come Up. First at bat, we pick the brains of Claw & Richie August... better known as HULK. Break out a blunt, crack a 40, and see what's good in the hood with this FCK YES! exclusive interview with HULK.
FCK YES! How the FCK are you today?
HULK: Doing great! Kicking it in NY at Claw's place with our homie The Car Thief getting ready to road trip it to Michigan for a cinco de mayo party we are playing! Then back to Chicago.
FY! You've been rocking crowds for over 3 years. What would you be doing if it weren't for music?
HULK: Probably have a shitty 9 to 5 type job to be honest.
FY! What are some of your favorite places to play? Which type of venue do you like the best?
HULK: LA, NYC, Chicago, but some of the smaller cities are where we rage the hardest. Big concert venues are dope but the smaller more intimate clubs are fun also.
FY! Tits or ass?
HULK: BOTH. But one or the other has to be fantastic if only one can be chosen.
FY! With 20+ releases on BroTown Records... whos/whats next?
HULK: We have a bunch of shit in the works at the moment. Our buddy Pleasure is up next, will have some more HULK coming out soon as well as some new up and coming artists. Our first hip hop mix tape will be dropping this summer also.
FY! Word on the street is you'll be partying with AK1200 down in Puerto Rico soon. Any details you can let slip?
HULK: Our buddy is bringing us down again for a show headlining with AK. We literally just found out about it so there aren't too many details yet.
FY! What’s your idea of relaxing? What do you do when you need to unplug?
HULK: Smoke, work on tunes, catch up on movies, kick it in the hot tub with some ladies and a blunt...
FY! What's in your music player right now?
HULK: A lot of hip hop right now, Action Bronson, Asap Rocky, Curren$y, Kendrick Lamar.
FY! When's the next TRUNKSMASHER coming?
HULK: Probably some time this summer, trying to do one every few months.
FY! We have seen the electronic culture jump leaps and bounds in the last five years, what is your take on the current market and the direction its going?
HULK: I honestly think it's only going to get more commercialized and mainstream. That's not necessarily a bad thing it just seems that's the way things are going right now.
FY! You're going to be at The Come Up music festival (July 9-12) who are you excited to be sharing the stage with?
HULK: Immortal Technique, Heavygrinder, Megalodon, Mantis.
FY! Whiskey or vodka?
HULK: Depends on how drunk and how fast we are trying to get drunk.
